Happy Birthday, Snow White & Cinderella!

Today happens to be Cinderella's birthday, or rather Ilene Woods who provided the voice of Walt Disney's Cinderella. And May 16th would have been Adrianna Caselotti's birthday....she was the voice of Walt Disney's Snow White. So in honor of these two Disney legends, I'm posting their obituaries from the Los Angeles Times because they provided a nice little bio for each of them.

This first one is from January of 1997:

And this one is from July of 2010:

And just for fun, I'm posting this video clip that I originally saw on Connie Moreno's Life Is A Journey blog. I don't watch any of the "Real Housewives" shows, but I still thought this Saturday Night Live parody was hysterical.

It appears that all copies of the sketch have been removed from YouTube. Here is a link to watch it on Hulu. I don't have a Hulu account, but I was still able to watch it all that way through. Hopefully anyone out there that is interested, will also be able to view it:

The Real Housewives Of Disney

I should mention that it might take a minute for the clip to load, and there will probably be one short commercial to watch beforehand.

I'd heard that Ilene Woods' B-day was on cinco de mayo (a good day to be born), but did you know that before the Cinderella film was officially released, Ilene actually voiced the Snow White character for a 1949 Disney record album.

By the way, my records show Adriana's birthday to be the 16th of May. Can I use that obituary for a future post sometime?

I can't enough of that SNL skit either. Still makes me laugh.

SWS, Ha! THAT will teach me to rely on Wikipedia! I just rechecked the site and it does give her date of birth as May 6th, but when I checked IMDB and several other sources, they list it as May 16th. Thank you for the correction! I will go change it in the post. And yes, please use that clipping whenever and however you want!

I'm still not tired of that SNL skit! Rapunzel, Rapunzel, BURN THAT DRESS!!! I hope they do a follow-up skit! I was a little worried that it might not be appropriate to include in a post about Ilene Woods and Adriana Caselotti.....but hey, it was a "princess" tie-in and hopefully they had a sense of humor.

I remember going to see Snow White at the LA County Museum of Art, the only time I've seen it on the big screen with an enthusiastic audience... the line was so long that they had to add a second showing. Obviously this is from the days before VHS or DVDs! At first, Adrianna's "girlish" voice is hard to ignore... but you get used to it.

Major, I wouldn't mind seeing it on the big screen again. I'm hoping that it comes to the El Capitan later this year for it's 75th anniversary.
