Disneyland's 100 Millionth Guest!- 1971

Forty years ago today, Disneyland welcomed it's 100 millionth guest.

As park attendance approached that number, the Summer 1971 issue of Disney News Magazine presented the following article.

The next issue featured an article about the 100 millionth guest, Miss Valerie Suldo.

I'm including this next article from the same issue, just because I thought it was pretty interesting.

This post ROCKS! I love the way you presented the "before and after" with the hype of the 100 Mil guest!

Thanks!

I always wonder if the REAL 100-millionth guest walked through several times, but was a guy with long hair, or somebody else who was not "Disney" enough. Then Valerie comes along - cute girl - bingo! Like I said, just wondering.

What an amazing thing to happen... especially to a first time guest.

I hit the link and read the Daveland post too. She really did look like a celebrity being mobbed in those photos.

Great post!

VDT, Major and SWS, Thank you...I always appreciate your comments!

Major, I've wondered the EXACT same thing. I have a very strong feeling that guests like that are "selected" by Disney.

I loved the article about the costume designers to the animatronic stars. Years ago, I remember seeing something on TV showing some Disney folks riding attractions before the parks open to make sure all the animated characters in attractions were working properly. How do I get that job?

Can you imagine if the 100 Millionth Guest had looked like a hideous troll? No way that would happen!
