Today we have three vintage lenticular* pins from Disneyland. They are from the late sixties/early seventies. The Mickey Mouse pin above, is a personal souvenir of mine from a childhood visit to the park. This same version can be seen changing while worn by a "celebrity" park guest in this wonderful photo series posted recently by Daveland.
The Goofy pin below, belonged to my brother and was purchased during the same park visit.
Next, is the Tinkerbell version. I purchased this pin recently on ebay just to complete my collection. I believe there were only these three versions available....at least I only remember these three being sold at the park and I haven't seen any others out there for sale since then.
Below is a pic showing what the backs of these pins look like.
(*Lenticular images are those that display one image when held at one angle and another image when tilted slightly.)
Neat "lenticular" (I had to look it up) Pins! They scanned nicely, I've tried to scan some 3-D souvenirs and the results are mixed. How fun these are "Original" to you and your brother, those are the best kind of vintage souvenirs!
ReplyDeleteHey VDT, I did have to keep moving these around in different places on the scanner to get just the perfect scan. It actually took many attempts, so you might want to try again and just keep relocating the item to a different spot until you get a scan that you're happy with.
ReplyDeleteWonderful blog!- Rally enjoyed my visit!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, jb. Please come back again!
ReplyDeleteThere was a fourth pin, with Donald Duck. It flashes "Disneyland is Ducky", and it seems to be the rarest of the four. But it does show up on ebay from time to time for not too much!
ReplyDeleteFun post!
Thank you, Major...I did not know that. I will have to go looking for the Donald Duck pin now!
ReplyDeleteI have the Goofy pin. Do you know if its worth anything?
ReplyDeleteHi Mark. You might want to check on ebay to see what it sells for. I only paid $8.49 for the Tinkerbell version....not very much!
ReplyDeleteI have the Mickey and the Donald but had never seen the Goofy or Tink.
ReplyDeleteHaha "Made in Japan".
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI'm from Italy and I found a pair of these pins in a flea market!
but the back is different! they're not made in Japan! Do you know something about it?! thanks!!
Hi Giorgio! Sorry, but I really don't know too much about these buttons other than what I've posted. I haven't seen any variations of these that were not from Disneyland.
