I guess it is possible that they used a "spare" animatronic owl that they had lying around in case a replacement was needed. If you are interested in seeing photos and video of the owl from The Walt Disney Story, I also did a post about him and you can see that here:

The Walt Disney Story

Thank you for commenting!TokyoMagic!https://www.blogger.com/profile/16340756514811789233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440013033477237104.post-58979120920624570202016-06-01T05:13:34.268-07:002016-06-01T05:13:34.268-07:00The little owl is from Walt Disney story. It is the Professor owl, it had a black rudder cap with black tassel. It would talk about the animal stars of Disney films.
At the end of the show, the owl would crane its neck and puff out its wings.
It would say something about giving a "hoot" to animals. I didn't even remember that there were weasels in the DL version, so when I was given that information, it made sense to me. Anaheim's version was the first one built and most of the other figures are supposed to be from America Sings, so if there are weasels in the Anaheim version, then I'm sure they are also from America Sings and my information is wrong. From what I understand, Orlando and Tokyo had the America Sings characters recreated for their Splash Mountains. Does Florida have weasels in their Laughing Place scene too? I know some of the scenes are different....only Florida and Tokyo have the "hopping" Br'er Rabbit figure. It's time for me to go on Anaheim's Splash Mountain again!TokyoMagic!https://www.blogger.com/profile/16340756514811789233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440013033477237104.post-38876352860420974252008-08-26T07:30:00.000-07:002008-08-26T07:30:00.000-07:00My recollection is that all seven (?) weasels were...My recollection is that all seven (?) weasels were used in Splash Mountain at Disneyland in the Laughing Place scene.
