He came with the house! He has been outside for years now & needs some work. For a family of six it was fun for us "littles" and not too expensive for the parents. I was so disappointed when MPP closed and then Six Gun... Disney did major damage to the smaller theme parks. Of course, the hype surrounding Disney as well as easier access made all the difference. Those days are still favorite memories. metalneckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16567592788905464685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440013033477237104.post-75572062440702923712018-10-15T13:57:47.369-07:002018-10-15T13:57:47.369-07:00I have been playing golf there and never had a clu...I have been playing golf there and never had a clue. This was the beginning of my retail working life and my adult life since it is where I met my husband. There were so many items they sold but favorites were a pen with a moving ship in it. The iconic postcard with my husband in the Marco Polo Suit. Other information you may not know is the shooting gallery was sold to a site on the Daytona Boardwalk and was there for years after the closing of the park.It was the first place I ever saw an automatic money counter you poured your whole drawer in there at closing and it sorted and counted your funds except for bills. Oden foods were the food supplier. This also was my first knowledge of how many people like to bring in pot to smoke on the sky lift and got busted and removed from the park there were cameras, yes security cameras every other beam holding up the ride, not to say what other things they did on them, yes use your imagination and you are probably correct.I loved working there and loved our guest the god and the bad alike.....Tinanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440013033477237104.post-55923988062951921602017-01-17T16:35:45.016-08:002017-01-17T16:35:45.016-08:00It was a fun place to go. The new tv commercial for Gieco about the kids playing the game Marco Polo made me think about it. It was a great time and not so cheesy according to pre Disney standards. Not thinking about it as a child but, now it appears to me that the park was actually experiencing the early stages of its demise since some areas of it were almost desserted giving the feeling that you were in a ghost town. No tumbleweed though. It was 100 degrees in the shade that day and must have been not long after the fires <br />because I remember the smell of charred wood that still lingered.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13070523605621498677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440013033477237104.post-89010479281353712312016-06-17T06:20:10.155-07:002016-06-17T06:20:10.155-07:00I actually live on the grounds at this time. I have never been on one of those Dragon rides, but I know exactly what you are talking about. There used to be one of those at the L.A. County Fair every year. I wanted to ride it, but the whole thing looked really rickety and the fabric that would lower down over the riders looked positively filthy, so I passed! It really is a shame about Marco Polo Park, as well as many of the other smaller parks. I guess it was/is just too difficult to compete with the "big boys" like Disney (and now Universal). Thanks again for sharing some of your memories of the park!TokyoMagic!https://www.blogger.com/profile/16340756514811789233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2440013033477237104.post-65724426711859502032015-09-25T09:26:49.482-07:002015-09-25T09:26:49.482-07:00I love this park. The park was so much fun. My favorite ride was the swings. The strawberry icee was my favorite treat. I remember being able to ride rides over and over. The Dragon ride was fun and scary, the whole Dragon would cover in flowing fabric which made it fun. It's a shame what happened to it, I would love to be able to take my grandchild. Not many people ever came and that is good because most of us were in no condition to interact with the public. Twenty year old managers were the norm. Born in 1965, I was there around 1973-74. I remember the log ride and at that time it was the largest in the south. You would get the sense of weightlessness as you went down and then hitting the water. I can still remember so clearly. I also went twice to a park in Florida called,"Six Gun Territory". It too was a cool western theme park. Seeing the shows of western shootouts and rides too. This park was outside of Ocala.Florida.
